Our Parish Priest is Fr. Christian and throughout the year, mass is delivered in school to celebrate key liturgical events.

FOUNDATION WELCOME LITURGY

On 25th September 2025, our new FS2 children were welcomed into our school family during a special Welcome Liturgy. Together with their parents, we celebrated as a whole school community, marking the beginning of the FS2's journey at St Joseph's. During the liturgy our parish priest, Fr. Patrick Harrigan, blessed candles which were then presented to the children as a symbol of light, hope and God's love guiding them throughout their time at school. 

      

        

We are so proud to welcome our new FS2 children and look forward to watching them grow, shine and share their light with others as they begin this exciting new chapter.

 

HARVEST LITURGY

On 3rd October, we had a special Harvest Liturgy to mark CAFOD Family Fast Day. As a school, we collected food to donate to Rawmarsh Food Bank, our local food bank. We reflected on the message of Monday's Gospel assembly and thought about how grateful we are that God has given us food to eat. By donating this food we were showing Preferential Option for the Poor.

              

 

CAFOD FAMILY FAST DAY LUNCH

At lunchtime on CAFOD Family Fast Day, our school community came together to show solidarity with those around the world who face hunger and poverty every day. Children and staff were given the option to have a simpler lunch - a reminder to be grateful for what we have. 

            

           

Many children embraced this opportunity to live out the message of the morning's liturgy.

 

MINI VINNIES BAKING FOR THE ABBEYS CARE HOME

In September, Mini Vinnies arranged to visit The Abbeys Care Home. In preparation for this visit, the Mini Vinnies baked and decorated cupcakes for the staff and residents.

         

        

The Mini Vinnies walked to The Abbeys Care Home to deliver their cakes, as an offering of love and hope. The children enjoyed bring joy and hope to others in our community.

 

THE BLESSING OF THE ADVENT WREATHS

This morning, we gathered together for the Blessing of the Advent Wreaths. Every class created their own wreath, which was blessed by Father Patrick. Year 6 Faith in Action led the liturgy, sharing readings and reflections. This was a thoughtful, reflective start to our Advent celebrations in school.
