At St Joseph’s we use the Language Angels scheme of work and resources to ensure we offer a relevant, broad, vibrant and ambitious foreign languages curriculum that will inspire and excite our pupils using a wide variety of topics and themes. All pupils will be expected to achieve their full potential by encouraging high expectations and excellent standards in their foreign language learning - the ultimate aim being that pupils will feel willing and able to continue studying languages beyond key stage 2.

As Language Angels is a newly introduced scheme to the school and to ensure consistency of learning we have introduced a progressive 3 year plan to steadily accelerate children to year group expectations. Each year group will have a termly unit planner which will change each academic year as follows

Unit Planner 23-24

Unit Planner 24-25

Unit Planner 25-26 (final unit planner moving forward)

By the end of our 25-26 Unit Planner having been completed, we expect to see the following end points being achieved consistently.

SPANISH DAY - June 2023

Each year we hold an imersive Spanish Day to give children the opportunity to practise their Spanish and experience the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

This year we "visited" Span and learnt about the major cities, food and culture. We started the day in assembly by travelling by plane 1440km to Spain’s capital of Madrid!

To practise their languages the classes visited each teacher and took turns to use numbers, colours and greetings to produce pieces of work. They also sampled Spanish cuisine and studied the map of Spain. To find out more see the Spanish Day page in our gallery!
